Building a Culture of Safety: Empowering Young Disaster-Ready Citizens

On Friday, 19 June 2026, the School of Social Innovation, Mae Fah Luang University, successfully organized an educational outreach activity entitled “Building a Culture of Safety: Disaster Preparedness and Resilience Education for School Children” at CRPAO School, Chiang Rai Province.

The activity was conducted in collaboration with teachers from Saikhao Phan District and aimed to foster disaster awareness, preparedness knowledge, and practical safety skills among primary school students. Through interactive learning activities, students were encouraged to understand disaster risks, develop emergency response awareness, and cultivate a lifelong culture of safety and resilience.

This initiative reflects the growing importance of disaster risk reduction education in empowering young people to become active participants in creating safer and more resilient communities. By introducing disaster preparedness at an early age, the program contributes to strengthening local capacity and promoting a proactive safety culture among future generations.

The project was funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) in collaboration and support from Hiroshima University and Kumamoto University.

The initiative was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Wanwalee Inpin, Dr. Yuki Miyake, Miss Reni Juwitasari, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Maya Dania, with valuable support from School of Social Innovation student Miss Thu Yati Tin.
