มฟล. ร่วม NUS จัด Special Panel ถกประเด็นสิ่งแวดล้อมข้ามพรมแดนลุ่มน้ำโขง

สำนักวิชานวัตกรรมสังคม มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง ร่วมกับ Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) มหาวิทยาลัยแห่งชาติสิงคโปร์ (NUS) จัดกิจกรรม Special Panel Collaboration ภายใต้ SDG Talk Series #9 หัวข้อ "Rethinking the Mekong: Borders, Knowledge, and Transboundary Environmental Challenges in Southeast Asia" เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 29 พฤษภาคม 2569 เวลา 13.00–16.00 น. ณ ห้องประชุม E1-414 อาคารสำนักวิชา 1 มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง จังหวัดเชียงราย พร้อมถ่ายทอดสดผ่านระบบ Zoom Hybrid

ผศ.ดร.ธนิกุล จันทรา คณบดีสำนักวิชานวัตกรรมสังคม มฟล. เป็นประธานกล่าวเปิดงาน โดยกิจกรรมเริ่มต้นด้วยการฉายภาพยนตร์สั้น "Cross-Border Pollution between Shan State and Chiang Rai Province" โดย Tom Fawthrop สารคดีที่สะท้อนปัญหามลพิษข้ามแดนในพื้นที่รอยต่อระหว่างรัฐฉานและจังหวัดเชียงราย

จากนั้นจึงเข้าสู่การอภิปรายโต๊ะกลมโดยวิทยากร 4 ท่าน ได้แก่ Dr. Carl Grundy-Warr จาก FASS NUS นำเสนอในหัวข้อภูมิศาสตร์ข้ามพรมแดนของแม่น้ำโขง, ผศ.ปฐมพงษ์ มโนหาญ ในหัวข้อ Citizen Science กับธรรมาภิบาลลุ่มน้ำโขง, ดร.สืบสกุล กิจนุกร ในหัวข้อขบวนการชุมชนและชีวิตริมฝั่งแม่น้ำ และ Asst. Prof. Dr. Maya Dania ในหัวข้อ Anthropocene และอนาคตด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม โดยมีตัวแทนนักศึกษาจากสำนักวิชานวัตกรรมสังคมทำหน้าที่ดำเนินรายการและเปิดรับคำถามจากผู้เข้าร่วม

ภายหลังการอภิปรายสิ้นสุด ผศ.ดร.ธนิกุล พร้อมคณะผู้บริหารสำนักวิชานวัตกรรมสังคม ได้ร่วมประชุมหารือกับทีม NUS เพื่อวางแผนความร่วมมือในอนาคต รวมถึงการจัดกิจกรรม Mekong Field School 2026 ซึ่งจะเป็นการขยายความร่วมมือด้านการเรียนการสอนและการวิจัยในอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน้ำโขงระหว่างสองสถาบัน

กิจกรรมครั้งนี้สะท้อนพันธกิจของ มฟล. ในการขับเคลื่อนเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน (SDGs) โดยเฉพาะด้านน้ำสะอาดและการรับมือกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ ผ่านการสร้างเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ระหว่างนักวิชาการ นักวิจัย และนักศึกษาจากสถาบันชั้นนำในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้

MFU and NUS Host Special Panel on Mekong Transboundary Environmental Challenges

The School of Social Innovation, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), National University of Singapore (NUS), successfully hosted a Special Panel Collaboration under SDG Talk Series #9 on the theme "Rethinking the Mekong: Borders, Knowledge, and Transboundary Environmental Challenges in Southeast Asia." The event took place on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 13:00 to 16:00 at Room E1-414, School of Social Innovation Building, MFU, Chiang Rai, and was broadcast live via Zoom. .

Assistant Professor Dr. Thanikun Jantra, Dean of the School of Social Innovation, delivered the opening remarks. The program began with a special screening of the documentary "Cross-Border Pollution between Shan State and Chiang Rai Province" by filmmaker Tom Fawthrop, which examines the environmental and public health impacts of industrial pollution along the Shan State–Chiang Rai border.

The screening was followed by a panel discussion featuring four experts: Dr. Carl Grundy-Warr (FASS, NUS) on transboundary Mekong geographies; Assistant Professor Pathompong Manohan on citizen science and Mekong governance; Dr. Suebsakun Kidnukorn on community activism and river communities; and Assistant Professor Dr. Maya Dania on the Anthropocene and environmental futures. Student moderators from the School of Social Innovation facilitated an open Q&A session with participants.

Following the panel, MFU's academic leadership convened a meeting with the NUS delegation to advance plans for future collaboration, including the Mekong Field School 2026 — a joint initiative aimed at deepening research and teaching partnerships across the Greater Mekong Subregion.

The event underscored MFU's commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), through international academic partnerships and cross-border knowledge exchange.
