Soc-In Pride | Celebrating Global Achievements

We are proud to share that our colleague, Assistant Professor Fabio Calzolari (Mae Fah Luang University), has been accepted to present at the ASEAS 2025 Conference at St John’s College, University of Cambridge (the United Kingdom) on 15 September 2025.

His paper, “Recognising Ecocide as an International Crime against Humanity: A Legal and Buddhist Perspective on Environmental Accountability in Thailand”, brings forward a timely dialogue on how law, ethics, and spirituality can strengthen global responses to environmental destruction.

This work is deeply connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

- SDG 13 – Climate Action : Advocating stronger accountability for environmental harm.

- SDG 15 – Life on Land : Protecting ecosystems from irreversible damage.

- SDG 16 – Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions : Advancing legal recognition of ecocide as a crime against humanity.

- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals : Bridging Buddhist philosophy and international law for a sustainable future.
