Villages Along the Mekong River: Tragedy or Prosperity?

Is international development cooperation transforming river communities — or reshaping their futures in ways we rarely question?

Join the SDG Talk Series Special Lecture at the School of Social Innovation, Mae Fah Luang University, for a critical discussion on the development trajectories of Mekong villages from an international development perspective.

We are honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Hermann Waibel (Leibniz University Hannover & University of Passau, Germany), a leading development economist with over four decades of research and policy engagement across Southeast Asia. With advisory experience for the World Bank, ADB, FAO, UNDP, UNEP, and GIZ, his insights bridge global policy frameworks and grounded regional realities.
