At the School of Social Innovation, Miss Thikumphorn Singtomast, Researcher at the Area-Based Social Innovation Research Center (AB-SIRC), conducts research grounded in place-based social innovation. Her current work focuses on Death Studies, examining death and dying, symbolic systems, meanings, and the social processes that intersect with broader demographic and societal change.
Miss Thikumphorn views the SDGs as a holistic framework that reveals how sustainability challenges are deeply interconnected and cannot be addressed in isolation. She values the SDGs’ universal language and commitment to “leaving no one behind,” which supports cross-sector collaboration for vulnerable groups. At the same time, she critically notes key limitations of the SDGs, including their broad scope, lack of enforcement mechanisms, internal contradictions, Western-centric framing, and limited gender perspectives. For her, the SDGs remain useful, but meaningful progress requires deeper structural change and interpretations that reflect diverse contexts and lived realities.
She argues that no SDG should be prioritized above others, as the significance of each goal shifts depending on context. While foundational goals such as No Poverty and Zero Hunger underpin all development efforts, in the field of death studies, Good Health and Well-Being becomes especially critical, as it exposes inequalities in illness, care, and end-of-life experiences. For Miss Thikumphorn, sustainability demands a holistic perspective—one that recognizes that every SDG gains meaning only through its connection to wider social systems and structural conditions.

นางสาวฐิกุมพร สิงโตมัส นักวิจัยประจำ ศูนย์วิจัยนวัตกรรมสังคมเชิงพื้นที่ (Area-Based Social Innovation Research Center: AB-SIRC) ดำเนินงานวิจัยบนฐานแนวคิดนวัตกรรมสังคมเชิงพื้นที่ งานวิจัยปัจจุบันของเธอมุ่งเน้นด้าน มรณศึกษา (Death Studies) โดยศึกษาความตายและการจากไป ระบบสัญลักษณ์ ความหมาย และกระบวนการทางสังคมที่เชื่อมโยงกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางประชากรและสังคมในภาพรวม
นางสาวฐิกุมพร มองว่า SDGs เป็น กรอบการพัฒนาแบบองค์รวม ที่ช่วยให้เห็นว่าความท้าทายด้านความยั่งยืนมีความเชื่อมโยงกันอย่างลึกซึ้งและไม่สามารถแก้ไขแยกส่วนได้ เธอให้คุณค่ากับภาษาสากลของ SDGs และหลักการ “ไม่ทิ้งใครไว้ข้างหลัง” ซึ่งเอื้อต่อความร่วมมือข้ามภาคส่วนเพื่อสนับสนุนกลุ่มเปราะบาง ขณะเดียวกัน เธอชี้ให้เห็นข้อจำกัดสำคัญของ SDGs ได้แก่ ขอบเขตที่กว้างมาก การขาดกลไกบังคับใช้ ความขัดแย้งภายในกรอบ แนวคิดที่มีศูนย์กลางแบบตะวันตก และมุมมองด้านเพศภาวะที่ยังค่อนข้างจำกัด สำหรับเธอ SDGs ยังคงมีประโยชน์ แต่ความก้าวหน้าอย่างแท้จริงจำเป็นต้องอาศัยการเปลี่ยนแปลงเชิงโครงสร้างที่ลึกซึ้งยิ่งขึ้น และการตีความที่สะท้อนบริบทที่หลากหลายและประสบการณ์ชีวิตจริงของผู้คน
เธอเสนอว่าไม่ควรยก SDG ใดให้มีความสำคัญเหนือกว่าเป้าหมายอื่น เพราะความสำคัญของแต่ละเป้าหมายเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามบริบท แม้เป้าหมายพื้นฐานอย่าง การขจัดความยากจน และ การขจัดความหิวโหย จะเป็นรากฐานของการพัฒนาโดยรวม แต่ในสาขามรณศึกษา สุขภาพและความเป็นอยู่ที่ดี กลับมีบทบาทสำคัญเป็นพิเศษ เนื่องจากสะท้อนความเหลื่อมล้ำด้านการเจ็บป่วย การดูแล และประสบการณ์ในช่วงท้ายของชีวิต สำหรับนางสาวฐิกุมพร ความยั่งยืนจำเป็นต้องอาศัยมุมมองแบบองค์รวม ซึ่งตระหนักว่าแต่ละ SDG จะมีความหมายได้ก็ต่อเมื่อเชื่อมโยงกับระบบทางสังคมและโครงสร้างในภาพกว้าง
