At the School of Social Innovation, Dr. Jaruwan Hatapasu, Assistant to the Dean, believes that real change starts when people find strength in their own voices.
Through her teaching in Sociology ane Anthropology, Ethnicity and Cross Border Mobility, and Marginalization and Development she inspires students to see beyond differences, to recognize how diversity, inclusion, and empathy can rebuild the social fabric of communities.
Her research, “Rituals and Social Cohesion in a Multi-Ethnic Community: A Case Study of Sriwichai, Chiang Rai Province,” shows how annual rituals become more than traditions—they are living acts of solidarity that unite diverse ethnic groups, nurture belonging, and sustain peace.
For Dr. Jaruwan, the heart of sustainable development is People (SDGs 1–5). She believes that empowering individuals and communities to stand on their own is the most powerful path toward justice, resilience, and shared well-being.

ดร.จารุวรรณ หัตถาภาส ผู้ช่วยคณบดี เชื่อว่า “การเปลี่ยนแปลงที่แท้จริง” เริ่มต้นขึ้นเมื่อผู้คนค้นพบพลังในเสียงของตนเอง
ผ่านการสอนในรายวิชา สังคมวิทยา มานุษยวิทยา ชาติพันธุ์และการเคลื่อนย้ายข้ามพรมแดน และความเป็นชายขอบกับการพัฒนา
เธอถ่ายทอดแรงบันดาลใจให้นักศึกษามองเห็นคุณค่าของความหลากหลาย การอยู่ร่วมกัน และความเข้าใจซึ่งกันและกันในสังคมพหุวัฒนธรรม
งานวิจัยของเธอ “การดำรงชีวิตบนความหลากหลายของชุมชนชาติพันธุ์ด้วยการจัดการความหลากหลายสู่การประสมประสานทางสังคมผ่านพิธีกรรมประจำปี (ชุมชนศรีวิชัย จังหวัดเชียงราย)”
เผยให้เห็นว่า “พิธีกรรมประจำปี” ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงประเพณี หากแต่เป็น สะพานแห่งความสามัคคี ที่เชื่อมโยงผู้คนต่างชาติพันธุ์ให้เข้าใจกันและอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสงบสุข
สำหรับเธอ หัวใจของการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน คือ “ผู้คน” (SDG 1–5)
เพราะเมื่อผู้คนได้รับพลังและโอกาส พวกเขาจะกลายเป็นแรงขับเคลื่อนสำคัญในการสร้างสังคมที่เป็นธรรม เข้มแข็ง และยั่งยืนร่วมกัน
