The 1st SDG Talks Series on "A Garb of Coloniality: Sustainable Development Goals"

???? LIVE on United Nations Day | 24 October 2025

The 1st SDG Talks Series brought together MFU (Thailand) and La Trobe University (Australia) for a thought-provoking dialogue with Emeritus Professor Alberto Gomes (DEEP Network) on the topic:

????️ “A Garb of Coloniality: Sustainable Development Goals.”

Professor Gomes challenged us to rethink the SDGs through a decolonial lens, questioning how global development agendas often reproduce the same structures of inequality, capitalism, and colonial logic they claim to resolve. He called for collective resistance, Indigenous knowledge recognition, and a move toward regenerative futures grounded in justice and reciprocity.

Moderated by Asst. Prof. Fabio Calzolari, the session marked an inspiring start to MFU’s SDG Talks Series — reflecting our commitment to critical dialogue, inclusive sustainability, and transformative education, from classroom to impacts.
